Is teaching PSHE statutory?

The National Curriculum states: All schools should make provision for personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education, drawing on good practice. PSHE education contributes to schools' statutory duties outlined in the Education Act 2002 to provide a balanced and broadly-based curriculum.

The majority of PSHE education became compulsory in all schools in September 2020 with the introduction of statutory Relationships Education at Key Stages 1 and 2, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in Key Stages 3 and 4, and Health Education at from Key Stage 1 to 4.
