Week 8- Earth!
We have had another wonderful, busy week. This week, as communicators, we had the very exciting opportunity to enter a competition to ask a question of an astronaut in space. We explored what makes a good question and some of us recorded our questions to be entered into the competition. As performers, we all took part in a Perform workshop where we helped save planet Earth from the mean alien by befriending him and making him kind to everyone. We had a blast and showed great confidence! We also became scientists and explored some of the natural features of Earth, which included the Oceans, Mountains, Volcanoes, Forests and Deserts. We then used this knowledge as writers, to label an image of planet Earth with these features. Ask us all about it and we may be able to teach you! As mathematicians, we used our noticing lenses to spot mistakes in AB and ABB patterns, helping our teachers to spot their mistakes! As geographers, we explored Earth using Google Earth, looked at our natural environment around us as well as our classroom environment and created messy maps of our classrooms. We used our skills of collaboration to work well in a team to create a messy map that reflected our environments. Can you make one in your home environment? We worked on our gross motor skills on the trim trail and had a great time! To end the week and a fantastic first half-term, the Year 3 teams came down to show us their new Lego model designs. We had to use their instructions to create their models, and we really enjoyed being collaborative with some older Hillcross learners.
