Spring 1 - Week Three - Sand World
This week, as Geographers, we have explored the world looking for all the sandy habitats, focusing on the desert, and the animals that live there. We used our Characteristics of Effective Learning (COELs), 'Making links like a spider', to compare the features of a water habitat to a sandy habitat. Our desert learning was also brought into our music session where we used claves to identify the syllables in different desert animals names.
Over the week, our reading focus has been on developing our understanding of a sentence. We have used our stem sentence 'I can see' to help us describe what we have observed in pictures. We then applied our phonics knowledge to help us blend to read, so we could match pictures to the corresponding short sentence.
Our Artroom became a designers' workshop when we used our designs, from the previous week, to build our boats. We used our knowledge of different joining techniques to make sure we attached all the parts securely to bring our boats to life.
