Spring Term 2
Spring 2 Week 5
In English, we have written our own Hansel and Gretel-inspired fairy tales. As part of our RE curriculum, we visited the local church for an Easter experience, where the children learnt about Jesus' resurrection. In science, the children have explored gears and how they can change the direction, speed, or power of a force.
Spring 2 Week 4
As gymnasts, we have completed a range of balances, including partner and group balances. In line with our ethos of equality, we participated in a StopHateUK workshop to discuss the importance of showing respect to everyone and supporting everyone’s right to live free from discrimination of any kind.
Spring 2 Week 3
To celebrate Science Week, we investigated the impact of using a pulley. Through problem-solving, we discovered that the greater the number of pulleys, the less force needed to lift a heavy load. As part of World Book Day, we participated in The Great Big Footy & Booky Quiz and came to school dressed in our best costumes.
Spring 2 Week 2
As biologists, we observed the ducklings in the Early Years. By thinking and communicating with clarity and precision, we applied our knowledge of life cycles and taught the Reception children the stages of a bird’s life cycle. In English, we published our own travel brochures about a place of our choice.
Spring 2 Week 1
As mathematicians, we have been exploring scaling through multiplication. In science, we have created levers and investigated how they help lift heavy loads. To support our writing, we have researched white hat facts about Eastbourne to include in our travel brochures.
