Spring 2 - Week 6

Easter Celebrations

This week, we have been learning about rabbits with a big focus on the Easter Bunny and the story associated with Easter. The children have had a fantastic week learning about the Easter Story, exploring all things egg-related and creating their very own tasty Easter nests! On Tuesday, the children also paraded around their beautiful Easter hats made in partnership with their grown-ups and all the Nursery team were blown away by the effort everyone had gone to and the wonderful creations we saw!

Spring 2 - Week 5

Colour Mixing

The children have been exploring colour mixing this week and using their hands to explore this in both paint and play dough. They were very excited by the changes they saw and used this wonderful learning opportunity to create their Mother's and Other's Day cards.

Spring 2 -Week 3

Ducklings!

As I am sure you are aware, last week we had the absolute treat of our duckling eggs arriving and hatching! Parents and carers, please see the Google Classroom to share a video of our first egg cracking and hatching. This week, the children have been able to enjoy the ducklings as they grow and change and watch them waddle around the classroom and have their very first swim in our water tray! Some of the children have even been brave enough to hold them gently and carefully!

Cows

As it is Science week, we thought we would link to our current topic of the farm and learn about what animals produce and see if we could use some of that produce to create something tasty! The children used milk and yogurt to make delicious milkshakes which they added their choice of fruit to before giving it a taste.

Spring 2 - Week 2

This week we have thoroughly enjoyed our new topic, Down on the Farm and had a chance to get hands on experiences with across the week. Have a look below at the fantastic opportunities we have enjoyed!

Pancakes and PE

On Tuesday, we acknowledged the start of the Christian festival of Lent by learning about Shrove Tuesday and making our own batch of pancakes! The children helped add the ingredients and watched as we cooked them in the classroom before they independently demonstrated their physical development skills by either spreading jam using a knife, sprinkling sugar from a spoon or squeezing a fresh lemon. The children then had a go at rolling up their pancakes and enjoyed eating them too! We also linked our PE learning to our Duck & Chicken focus this week by practising egg and spoon races and playing a giant game of duck, duck, goose!

The Farm Visit!

On Wednesday, Mill Cottage Farm came to visit us at Nursery! They pitched up on the field and brought a range of gorgeous, friendly animals with them. The children were able to get close and stroke the various farm animals as well as learn about what they like and dislike. The children even asked questions that we hadn't answered in Week 1. The children all demonstrated such confidence and enthusiasm and showed wonderful respect for all the animals.
