Autumn 2 - Week4: Celebrations!

This week we begun our new topic 'Let's Celebrate'. We started with some White hat thinking around what a celebration is and, as writers, we created a list of the celebrations that the children in Reception participate in. As theologists, we have looked at the idea that everyone has a birthday and that celebrations should be a joyful time. Within this, we also created a double bubble map to compare and contrast two different celebrations: Christmas and Diwali, where we looked into the similarities and differences between them both. In addition to our Celebration focus, we also developed our skills as programmers, and have learnt how to code BeeBots, linking our learning of prepositional language as we made the BeeBots move forwards, backwards, left and right. We also explored the local area with our trip to Morden Library. Here we explored the library and were given our library membership cards. We hope you all return to borrow some books soon.

To end our week, we were lucky enough to have a local author,  Martin Butler, come in school to read his new book 'Baz Battles the Baddies'  to us! We have had a fabulous week and look forward to continuing our celebrations!
